Michael B Thorneloe | Students Association

The Christian Science Association of the Pupils of Michael B Thorneloe CSB

Registered Charity Number: 326615

The Association was founded by its teacher of Christian Science, Michael B Thorneloe CSB in 1968.

He taught an annual class of students based on the principles of Christian Science healing. The students were enrolled as Association members and continue to work within their own communities around the world, returning each year to Sheffield for a meeting of spiritual refreshment as often as they are able.

Since Michael’s passing a different experienced Christian Scientist has been invited each year to address the Association.

The main objective of the Association is the promotion and extension of Christian Science by maintaining links with the Association’s members and providing spiritual inspiration through the annual meeting in Sheffield, currently in early September. Members come from all over the world to hear the address. Visitors who are not able to go to their own Associations are welcome to apply to attend. Some members in this country and abroad join the meeting by computer-link which overcomes difficulties of travelling a distance. Financial support is available to members to assist them in attending the Association meeting both from abroad and in the UK.

Donations are given each year to different organisations which support the development of Christian Science.

A buffet lunch is provided at its annual meeting by the Association for its members and visitors.

The Association is run by a Committee of Trustees comprising the Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary.

They are elected by the Association members or appointed by the Committee on a rotation basis.
